Our sustainability pledge.

Our journey to greater sustainability and, ultimately, regeneration is one of continuous improvement, learning and development. Our strategy, aligned to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals and the UK’s Social Value Model, embraces a holistic approach focussed on the impact on people, communities and planet.

Our approach to sustainability.

Sustainable workplace design is focussed on creating effective human-centric spaces that meet today’s needs while minimising long-term environmental impact.

Reuse-first strategies

Reuse-first strategies

Reuse-first aligns with the principles and hierarchy of the circular economy. We must reject the established practice of ‘take, make, waste’ and look to maximise the useful life of furniture. We translate workplace strategy and demonstrate the process, value and benefits of integrating reuse within the overall design approach. Creative, skilful design can develop a coherent methodology incorporating a purposeful, curated aesthetic.

Lifecycle planning

Lifecycle planning

Assessments for lifecycle management are needed right at the start – only circular thinking will deliver circular results. Sustainable workplace design requires diligent focus in the planning stage – to audit, plan and implement. We work to create asset and building registers incorporating condition scores, maintenance and refurbishment schedules to maximise useful life of the asset portfolio.

Carbon reduction

Carbon reduction

The routine measurement of an organisation’s Scope 1, 2 and 3 greenhouse gas emissions provides a realisation that reductions cannot be achieved without considering embodied as well as operational carbon. Through understanding overall impact we compile project carbon budgets, integrating savings options through reuse as well as lifecycle assessments of new products.

Procurement scoring

Procurement scoring

We build customer-specific scoring matrices based on graded outcomes, such as durability, repairability, design for disassembly, biodiversity impact, human health and wellbeing, to create robust mechanisms for measuring and assessing procurement recommendations. Accessing our own manufactured portfolio and other sustainable office furniture suppliers, we can prioritise solutions based on weighted evaluation scores.

Supply chain management

Supply chain management

We assess and audit supplier performance across key sustainability factors, including environmental impact, governance, ethical compliance and social value. As well as product evaluations, we appraise company commitments including staff welfare, health and safety, and modern slavery.

There is increasing recognition that we cannot keep buying new and simply discard perfectly reusable but unwanted items. Our role is to translate the workplace strategy and demonstrate the process, value and benefits of integrating reuse within the overall design approach.

Our investment in impact assessment software, aligned to ISO standards, facilitates the creation of project-specific evaluations offering clear, verifiable outcomes that translate directly to customer targets.

By reusing a significant proportion of our existing furniture, the FF&E package delivered meaningful carbon savings without compromising on quality or functionality.

Head of Operational Change, University of Oxford

The LaMB Building, home to the University of Oxford’s biology and psychology departments, was a £3.2m project completed in Spring 2025. Our design-led approach, underpinned with asset management, lifecycle and supplier management services helped to create a breathtaking new space. The building was listed as one of CNN’s ’11 architecture projects set to shape the world in 2025.
